Neighbourhood guide  /  West End

Bloor West Village

A long-established main street with the subway beneath it and solid family housing around.

Bloor West Village is one of the oldest business improvement areas in North America, and the strip along Bloor between Jane and Runnymede has the mix that implies — butchers, bakeries, delis and long-standing independents alongside the newer arrivals. The residential streets to the north and south are substantial: interwar detached and semi-detached houses on regular lots, well maintained, with a strong Ukrainian and Polish presence historically. The subway runs directly beneath the strip, which makes this one of the better-connected family neighbourhoods in the west end.
