Islington Village centres on the old crossroads at Dundas and Islington, and it retains a village identity reinforced by the series of large historical murals painted on its buildings. The housing around it is a mix of older detached homes, postwar bungalows and newer infill, on streets that are quiet and well established. Islington station is close, which gives subway access uncommon this far west. It is a practical, settled neighbourhood that appeals to families wanting a walkable local strip without the prices of the Kingsway to the east.
