Maryvale is a compact postwar neighbourhood north of Lawrence between Victoria Park and Warden, built out in the fifties and largely unchanged in form since. The housing is bungalows and small two-storey detached homes on regular lots with driveways, on quiet streets with very little through traffic. It has parks, schools and a settled family character, and it is close enough to the 401 and the Don Valley to suit drivers. It has historically been among the more affordable detached-house neighbourhoods in the city, and the renovation cycle is well underway.
