Parkwoods lies east of the Don Valley Parkway around Victoria Park and York Mills, and it is a genuinely mixed postwar neighbourhood — detached houses and bungalows on quiet streets alongside a significant stock of mid-century apartment slabs. The ravine system is close and well used, and access to the parkway and the 401 makes it practical for drivers. It has historically been among the more affordable parts of North York for a detached house, drawing families who want space and are prepared to trade subway access for it. The community is diverse and long-settled.
