Markland Wood was developed in the sixties around the Markland Wood Golf Club, at the far western edge of Etobicoke against the Mississauga boundary. It is a planned community in the fullest sense — curving streets, consistent house scale, generous lots and a strong residents’ association that has been active in protecting the golf lands from redevelopment. The housing is largely original mid-century detached homes, many updated, with a growing number of rebuilds. It is quiet, green and entirely car-oriented; there is no rapid transit within walking distance.
