Newtonbrook runs from around Finch north to Steeles, and it is a predominantly residential area of postwar houses on regular lots — quieter than the Yonge corridor immediately south and priced accordingly. The housing is a mix of original bungalows and split-levels alongside a growing number of rebuilt homes, following the same pattern as Willowdale a few years behind. Commercial activity is concentrated on Yonge and Finch, with the side streets almost entirely residential. It appeals to families who want space, parking and reasonable transit without the density of the hubs.
