Thistletown is among the oldest settlements in this part of the city, established as a village on the Humber long before Etobicoke was suburban, and a handful of nineteenth-century buildings survive around the old crossroads. The housing today is predominantly postwar — bungalows and two-storey detached homes on generous lots — with the Humber River valley and its parkland running along the eastern side. It is quiet, green and well removed from the density of the city, with prices reflecting that distance. Access is by car or bus; there is no rapid transit nearby.
