Neighbourhood guide  /  West End

Little Portugal

Dundas West: bakeries, bars and a steady supply of renovated rowhouses.

Little Portugal centres on Dundas Street West and the streets running off it, and like its neighbours it carries the name of the community that settled it while the commercial strip has shifted toward bars, galleries and restaurants. The housing is narrow Victorian rowhouses and semis on tight lots, a great many of them renovated in the last fifteen years. It sits between Trinity Bellwoods and Dufferin Grove, close enough to both parks to benefit and far enough from either to price below them. The neighbourhood still turns over steadily, which makes it one of the more available parts of the west end.
