Leaside was planned as a garden suburb and built out largely between the wars, which gives it an unusually consistent character — brick detached and semi-detached houses on regular lots, wide streets, and a clear grid. It is among the most family-oriented neighbourhoods in the city: the schools are a major draw, the sports facilities are extensive, and Bayview Avenue provides a real main street. Much of the original housing stock has been renovated or rebuilt, and second-storey additions are common enough that the streetscape has changed noticeably over twenty years. Demand is consistent and inventory moves quickly.
