Mount Pleasant is both a road and the neighbourhood around it, running north from St Clair through to Eglinton. The commercial strip is genuinely useful rather than a destination — a butcher, a bakery, restaurants, a hardware store, the sort of retail that supports daily life. The housing on either side is largely detached and semi-detached brick from the twenties and thirties, well built and steadily renovated. It is quieter than Yonge a few blocks west and priced slightly below it, which has made it a common landing spot for families who want midtown but not the intersection.
