Neighbourhood guide  /  East End

North Riverdale

Semis and detached houses on a slope, with the park and a clear view back to the skyline.

North Riverdale climbs the slope east of the Don between Gerrard and Danforth, and Riverdale Park gives it one of the best views of the downtown skyline in the city. The housing is more substantial than the streets south of Gerrard — wider Victorian and Edwardian semis, a good number of detached houses, and deep lots on the streets nearest the park. It is a settled family neighbourhood with strong schools, the Danforth at its northern edge and Withrow Park at its centre. Turnover is moderate and the better streets attract consistent competition.

Housing stock

Victorian and Edwardian semi-detached and detached houses; very little condominium stock.

Who buys here

Families, established households, and buyers moving up from the smaller houses to the south.

Transit

Broadview and Chester stations on the Bloor line; the 504 King streetcar.

Worth checking

The slope means basements vary. Check drainage and any history of water on lower-lying streets.
