Riverside is the compact stretch of Queen Street immediately east of the Don River, and it is the first thing you reach crossing the bridge from downtown. It is small — a few blocks of Victorian commercial buildings with apartments above, and a tight residential grid behind — which gives it a contained, village-like quality that its larger neighbour to the east does not have. Proximity to the core is the practical draw: this is genuinely walking distance to the financial district for anyone willing to cross the bridge. The Broadview Hotel anchors the western end and the neighbourhood has organised itself around that revival.
